Personal Digital Audio & Video Converting Guide
This time I will show you how to extract audio from a VCD or DVD with two powerful free softwares: SUPER and Audacity. A bit of time consuming and requires extra efforts, but this steps will give you a good audio quality - I mean it, the result is relatively great!
Enter your Video Compact Disc into the CD-ROM drive. For VCD, Navigate to “MPEGAV” folder then copy the video file (.DAT) you want to get the audio from to your hard drive. This will make sure the file is readable and gives you a faster process. Do the same for DVD but find .VOB instead of .DAT.
Run the SUPER software! Drop the video file into it, select mp3 (audio only) from [Select the Output Container] dropdown, leave everything else intact exactly the same as shown on the SUPER Screenshot, click the [Encode (Active Files)] button then wait until it finish the job.
When it’s done the result MP3 file will be stored in “C:\Program Files\eRightSoft\SUPER\OutPut” folder or where you set it. Locate it!
Run Audacity! Then open the Mp3 file from the SUPER result. Zoom the waveform by pressing [CTRL+1], then select/block the area you want to extract then press the [Play] button to check audio on the selection area. When you have your desired area, navigate to [File] menu then choose [Export Selection As Mp3].
You can also do these to get a more precise result with Audacity: Move the cursor anywhere on the waveform area then press [Play] button to test the sound to get the start and end marking. Delete any part of the audio waveform you don’t need. You can do this by blocking the waveform area with your mouse then press [Delete] button on your keyboard - do not hesitate, because you can just undo the process. Fine tune your selection by more undo and delete process to get the precise area, you can press [CTRL+1] to zoom the waveform to get a better marking. Click the [Play] button again to check the selection. When you have your desired audio area, choose [File]-[Export As Mp3].
TIPS:
