Ripping Audio-CD is a process to convert audio/music files from your Audio-CD compact disc to another format such as Mp3 or WMA. If you want to be able to play your your music stored in an Audio-CD compact disc via cellphone or Mp3 Player, this ripping process is needed because cellphones and Mp3 Players can’t play Audio-CD format.

This How-To article will give you the steps required to rip your Audio-CD music files into another format. First you will need a CD-ROM drive. I am pretty sure you already have it on your PC or laptop. Second, you need the Ripper Software to digitally performs the process.

There are many free software available to do this task, so you don’t need to buy it, one of them is Free CD Ripper. It’s a free software which provides an easy interface and a quite good look - that’s why I chose it. Able to convert your Audio-CD to Wav, Mp3, Ogg, or Wma. Please download it then install it if you want to start ripping your Audio-CD with this guide.

Insert your Audio-CD into your CD-ROM drive then run the Free CD Ripper software. Free CD Ripper will automatically load the Tracks. Click the [i] button on the bottom toolbar to get track info from FreeDB server.

Notice the top menubar, click [Options] then click the [Save&Filename] tab. Click the button on the right of the [Output path] box then select the folder where you want to save the ripped tracks then click [OK].

Select [MP3] from the Output Format dropdown located at the right top of the Free CD Ripper window then depending on the condition of your Audio-CD, select the Grab Mode. Choose Fast Grab if your Audio-CD is in a good contidion, if not, decide which one is the best based on your CD condition. Finally, click the [Extract] button!
